The 4.4-inch king stands as a striking figure, featuring a beautifully crafted finial and double banding around the collar. Balanced weighting ensures stability in play, while the bases are lined with billiard cloth to protect the chessboard.

A unique feature of this set is the authentic “Staunton 1849” branding found at the base of the kings. As a tribute to historical design, one knight and one rook in each color bear a crown mark, traditionally used to indicate the King’s flank in descriptive chess notation—a practical detail for players who appreciate the history behind each move.
